 # [UK] Hero adventures-3: Journey to Egypt - Day 3

• First, ask the same question twice :

1) "Is the belt in the left hand box?"
2) "Is the belt in the left hand box?"

if you get two answers the same you know they are both false answers

• Two "No"s means the belt is in the left box so you can open it.
• Two "Yes"s means it isn't in the left hand box but you have a true and a false answer left so your next question should be :

• 3) "if my fourth question was whether the belt is in the right hand box what would you answer?" - he either tells the truth about his final answer (which is a lie) or a lie about his final answer (which is the truth) so this will always be a lie - so a "yes" means you can open the middle box and a "no" means you can open the right hand box

if you get different answers to 1 and 2 then you know you have had the one True answer allowed so you ask:

• Is the belt in the right hand box? - if he says No as he must be lying then open the right hand box, otherwise :

• is the belt in the middle box? - if he says No as he must be lying then open the middle box, otherwise open the left hand one.
• 1. Is the belt in the first chest
2. Is the belt in the first chest
3. Is the belt in the first chest
4. Is the belt in the second chest.

IGN is Scoot on all servers, all the time.

• The witch should ask the following 4 questions:
1. "IS the Waist belt in the first chest?"
2. "Is the waist belt in the first chest?"
3. "is the waist belt in the first chest?"
4. "is the waist belt in the second chest?"

Reasoning:

by asking 3 times about the same chest you can only get 2x lies and a truth or 3x lies, therefore if the answers of the first 3 questions is Yes,No,Yes then you know it is not in that chest, because the single answer will always be the truth.
If he tells you 3 lies then you know that the next question is the truth, thus leading you to where it is - e.g. if he says "No" for the last question about the second chest and was saying "Yes" for the first box then it is a lie and it is in the 3rd chest that has the belt etc.

Thank you, great question.

• 1.Is it in the first box ?
2.Is it in the first box ?
3. Is it in the first box ?
4.Is it in the second box ?

If the first three answers are no, and 4th is yes ,then its in the first one
If the first three answers are yes,and 4th is no ,then its in the third one
If the first three answers are yes ,and 4th is yes ,then its the second one

• I'm not sure if the alchemist will sneak out the true response among the other three or put them in order - one true, followed by 3 false. I'll use the worst case scenario, in which you don't know which is true and which isn't.

The questions are:
1. Is it in the first chest? then you repeat it twice more.
2. Is it in the first chest?
3. Is it in the first chest?
and
4. Is it in the second chest?

The rationale is as following. The first three questions are meant to
1) give absolute certainty of the belt being in the first chest or not
2) determine the truth value of the fourth question, and make a binary option out of the two remaining chests.

Here's how it works.
At the repeated questions 1-3, the two answers that repeat will be false. If three answers are the same, all are false.

If there will be at least two "No" answers to 1-3, the belt is in chest #1.

If not, there will be at least two "yes" answers to 1-3, and we'll know for sure the belt isn't in the first. The number of "yes" answers will determine the truth value of the fourth question, and the belt will surely be in either #2 or #3.

If there are three "yes" answers to 1-3, the answer to the fourth question will always be true.
So, if the alchemist answers "yes" to the fourth question, the belt is in chest #2. If "no", it's in #3.

If there are two "yes" answers and one "no" answer to 1-3, the answer to the fourth question will always be false.
So, if the alchemist answers "yes" to the fourth question, the belt is in chest #3. If "no", it's in #2.

The witch should ask 3 questions pointing on the same chest (let’s call it chest 1).
Is this the chest where the waist belt is?
Is this the chest where the waist belt is?
Is this the chest where the waist belt is?

And then pointing to one of the others:
Is this the chest where the waist belt is?

Let’s consider all possible combinations to 3 first questions.
Yes, yes, yes = alchemist lied 3 times and the belt is one of the other 2 chests. Then the 4th answer will be true.
No, no, no = alchemist lied and the belt is in chest 1. 4th answer will be true.
Yes Yes No = the next answer will be a lie since the alchemist already used the true answer.
No No Yes = same as above (and belt is in chest 1)
