Tracking gold usage

  • I'd like a feature where I can track how much gold I have used and on what. Like how the silver accounting tab exists on the auction house. I wish a gold tracker tab could be added to the statistics page or village overview page.

It would be a really good feature that help you figure out how much you've spent in a day or on what has it been spent on. Then when you sleep and wake up to find 100 gold missing only to find that your dual used it in a gold spree, you won't be surprised and can grill the SOB about it.

Keeping track of it could be highly beneficial.

Yes, I've built my fair share of WWs. Won a few, lost a few. Played far too many rounds for far too long. Made a lot friends and enemies.

Yes, I've played as an anvil and as a hammer. I'm only playing now because of all the friendship I have built over the past ten years. I love Travian but I love the community even more.

Envy me for I have everything, Fear me for I have nothing to lose.

  • i Wish I could get my dual to go on a gold spree then I wouldn’t feel bad when I always do it

But yeah not a bad idea tbh

i made a deal with the devil

  • Love it and I've mentioned that before, sadly no movement on the issue.

I think one of the impediments to it is that it isn't in Travian's interest for us to know how / where our gold goes. It would make it easier for people to budget and spend more carefully.

That's what I think too. It's like how Casino's operate. No good casino will have any clocks or any windows so the gamblers don't know how much time has passed giving them the illusion that it hasn't been that long since they started. And there is always some buzzer going off indicating that someone is winning all time so that it encourages the gamblers to keep betting.

If we don't know how much gold we spend, we will just buy more. Implementing this feature will curb everyone's gold usage which would not be in Travian's business interest. I think Travian should implement this feature. Prove to us players that profit isn't the only thing on their minds and that the player's opinion matter too.

  • Might not be a solution to the wider suggestion, but I got in the habit a few years ago of archiving the IGM from every gold purchase I made.

I never actually used to check at the end of a server mostly out of shame :D but the one time I did check I calculated I had purchased 19,000-ish gold throughout the server. I worked it out based on the package each time and it averaged out at around £40 per month (£400 total). No idea what the split was though, and that would be interesting to see. What would be even more interesting to see, is the split on a WW account.

Essentially the ability to know how much gold someone is spending is there already (bank statements, IGMs, pen and paper) so having that ability to see a breakdown within the game wouldn't hugely discourage people from spending imo, but it might moderate the heavier spenders. Who knows, it could encourage spending too if players notice they haven't spent as much as their peers. My justification for that, is there are periods in a server where my gold runs dry but if I feel as if I got through my last lot really quickly, I will try to manage my spending by putting off for a few days and relying on silver for emergencies. For all I know I could be spending below my usual average - but it feels like I'm spending too much. Might not be the same for everyone.

  • I do the same too .. I archive every purchase I make to see how much I use throughout the round. But a in-game breakdown would be immense.

  • I think it's a good idea - though I don't care that much for it. For saving purposes, I don't really need to know what I spend on, it won't change how to optimize things like NPCing and such.

but the one time I did check I calculated I had purchased 19,000-ish gold throughout the server.

Holy moly :p I've played top accounts, but never been anywhere near that, are you sure it's that much? Think my absolute max is ~8-9k.

I'll add up uk29 when it's over and see how that adds up. It will be a bit lower than that last server though.

  • i don't buy stuff at auction, not keen on chiefing (I like buildings in their "correct" place lol) so when i have a decent number of croppers needing built up, i can still use 100 gold a day just NPCing and instabuilding. It probably is excessive, but I'm too short of time/lazy to work out what res I need to NPC just once in each villa

  • Why archive the gold purchase messages? You can just open the gold buying menu and click on pending orders to see how much gold you have purchased :)

I think people just got used to this method. The pending orders method is not so well known.

That is fascinating, I never knew that. Considering those aren't "pending" it is a little surprising to see them there. Maybe the addition of a "completed" orders page might be in order? Or rename the current to Pending & Completed orders.
