Artifacts spawn in a 200x200 map

  • Yeah I posted this a few days ago......

Yet when it was pointed out that it would be impossible to keep the exact same spawns (some small being outside the map) you wrote this:

There is ongoing discussion about this behind the scenes so any feedback you all want to add into this thread I will make sure goes on my report for this week come Monday.

Also to help clarify it is 401x401 for the new map size.

  • Hello wishmaster3

Nothing has changed as of right now so nothing new to report.
I did add it to my report and if anything changes or something new comes up I will post it.

So at this time there are no changes regarding their spawns. :|

  • Ok my lazy fellas, let me solve your dilemma here :P Arties like confusion and architect usually stays longer on the map - which means they'll be there in the .sql file, and .sql files are updated in GT. Anyways, paying a visit to gt - it does indeed show that small archi did spawn beyond 200 radius - let's call it something else that TG forgot to program about. For those who don't know :P Natars spawned with negligible def at the artifacts since only top 100 hammers form gaul/teuton/romans were calculated when everyone was playing huns or eypgtians
Here are some coordinates that were in gt:
    ( 126|-159 ) Large Eyes
    ( -75|237 ) Small ARchi
    ( -56|124 ) small confu

    ( 80|110 ) small confu

    ( -163|80 ) large confu
    ( -235|66 ) small archi
    ( 235|-66 ) small archi

    ( 221|-108 ) Small boots
    ( -80|-110 ) small confu
    ( 191|-197 ) Small archi

Travian map being like donut ( I believe wishmaster's reference) - would mean that boonies spawned all the artifacts and being along the coordinates of 200 - you could be close to a lot of the small artifacts from all 4 quadrants

  • The fact that we don't have an answer about this is rather disturbing. This is certainly something that should have come up when coding the new map size, so there should be a readily available answer to copy and paste.

First it is impossible for the original spawn spiral to function as is since some go beyond the 200 mark.

Second if the spawn on the edge simply condenses with no other changes they will be a lot of Arti depth in the "boonies" and encourage people to settle out there, which begins to defeat the purpose of a smaller map.

surely your second point is a massively flawed point of view? i'd have thought the main reason for a smaller map size is the small player population, i haven't read up on any thing to do with the new map so i don't know if more 9/15c's or higher % oasis' are going to be available if they're going to be halving the amount squares on the map as it is but people are still going to settle far out for the perfect cropper regardless. just because certain people prefer settling the grey, or mid quad, or around the 100/100 ww doesn't make it the right way of playing, settling far out is perfectly acceptable way of playing. also not everyone plays this as a war game, every server will have a core or nms alliance that fluff around simming in the boonies :P i'm not trying to put words in your mouth here either, just trying to preempt some of your replies if any ^

Think you completely missed the topic of this thread. We're talking about artefact spawns (as clearly indicated in the title of the thread).

His point was artes being on the border due to the smaller size would be another reason for people to settle out there, there's already ample reason for people to settle out there, so no i didn't miss the point, i was stating those reasons. i think arte location whilst important wouldn't be as important as croppers/or people playing a different style of game to him

I think you both are missing the point of a 401x401 map :P There's no boonies... There's no "far out there"... 200x200 is 1 block away from -200/200, -200/-200 and 200/-200. I'd no more mind to have working hammers around 170/170 who're like 100 blocks away from -175/175 wwks compared to the ones in gz who'd be 240 blocks away.
And ofc i'd put ghost hammers in those coordinates. Though the draw back is that raiding's still not going to improve from beyond 100/100 coordinates. I'd honestly love to play maps where artifacts spawn beyond the coordinates - even in 801/801 maps it'd be fun to have contested areas that far out to divert some resources. I no more think that travian should fix their mistake. WW games can lacks action and having hot zones is what can fix it. I'd like to give a reference of dota and the 5 minutes runes which results into fights to avoid passive games. So, it'd be fun to have a hot zone at more than the center of the map. Basically, All borders matter!
