  • Varus gimme back my legions! xD
The first battle was the infamous Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in 9AD. Romans legions were ambushed in the Teutoburg forest by Germanic ancestors of teutons. So teuts rekt the Romans really bad and won. Apparently the first Roman emperor Augustus bashed his head in his palace walls for a few days in regret and ordered roman withdrawl from Germanic lands. ;-)

Second battle was Siege of Alesia in 52 BC.
One of the most famous sieges in history, right after siege of Troy. Julius Caesar led his Roman legions to the the Gual Fortress Alesia on top of Mont Auxois in modern France. Despite being outnumbered 4 to 1, Romans crushed the gual defenders and won. Romans walled in the guals and starved them until they surrendered. One of the first examples of good seige tactics in war.
Hahaha sorry for the long lecture. I get carried away at time with history.
