catapults on speed servers

  • I am a computer systems programmer by profession. I know that it would not take much programming effort to code gradual acceleration into rams and catapults so that they

    would pick up a moderate amount of speed the further they travel from their base. Now rams and catapults are set so slow on the speed servers that their effectiveness is greatly

    diminished. Yeah, I know what a tournament square is. Rams and catapults need to be a little faster on the speed servers none-the-less.

    Ram/Cat speed is slow for a reason.

    I think the main problem is with respect to 1x servers where, even with TQ at 20, it takes more than 15 hours to make 100 squares

  • I don't care what they do with speed servers, but cata speed is fine on 1x. Imagine you could get catapulted down while sleeping on the slowest version on this game, just sounds incredibly dumb to me. Now opponents at least need boots to do that or be very close.

    Here we're talking about incremental speed. It means after a certain amount of squares they start to go faster and the like, it does not mean that 10hs distance is reduced to 5, but maybe it is reduced to 9/8.5 hs

    I know what TS is, I have been playing Travian for more than 10 ys. I do not intend to describe what I mean as it has already been described by OldScout, just read his message. I only say that his idea would be nice on 1x too.

  • i think ts does same what he asked... remove ts and see yourself if u get it or not.. but it does seems u want cats to go over there base limit and match other troops type right? if not they are already speeding up with current.

    Would you also make it so a shorter distance would be slower to get to? Like a 3h travel now would be changed to maybe 4h? I think it makes sense in principle, but its overly complicated and a smaller map achieves what you want much better and without needing any complicated changes, that really don't do that much.


    Buffing TS again would be very close in practice to the incremental speed idea, and I don't think that's something most people would agree with. As a 1x player I like it as slow as it is now, if anything I'd like a revert to the TS buff and a smaller map instead of the better TS.
