When playing 1x speed go for culture point production early and sim fields simultaneously. However, build all the buildings the Quests tell you to do so. Best option for Culture Points are Crannies. Level 1 Cranny up to level 10 and build the rest of your empty village's spots with crannies to level 1 or level 3. These will help you to hide your resources as soon as beginners protection ends and give you a nice CP boost to settle your 2nd village as fast as possible.
Have a long term strategy in your mind. it doesnt need to be perfect. just think about things around.

In early stages of the game focus on boosting your resources production, also invest in resources with the hero as he levels up but after level 3 don't send him to adventures just yet since he will be weak for the time being (While he is working and getting you amazing amounts of resources), the adventures can stay for a lot of time, when time is right, reset your hero (With the free wisdom book that you will definitely get in the first adventures) and then go full strength so you can get all that exp, items and receiving little damage. At that point yo should already have a good production since you used the hero's production boost to increase your own resources tiles and he can focus on other tasks.

For new players, when you start the game, you will be given 60 gold. You can use it on whatever you want. However, a wise option for you is that you save that gold and wait until you finish tutorial task (world 07 task) and you can earn an extra 20 gold. So until then you have 80 gold in total. Keep using auction and going on adventure to earn more silver. Then trade all the silver to gold. If you are lucky you can have 100 gold before the protection expires. Use 100 gold to buy the gold club, and it will give you many benefits, and you can play more safely then.
Early game tip: In your first village build the following as early as possible while you also build fields:
Embassy lv 6 (higher if res is available)
Acadamy to lv 10
Main building to lv 10
Marketplace lv 10+ (as resources allow go for higher levels)
Residence to lv3+ (as resources allow go for higher levels)
Smithy lv 3
Barracks lv 3
Wall lv 4
Stables lv 1 (optional)
The rest of the space should be filled with one lv 10 cranny (this allows you to build as many other crannies in that village as you wish) and the other spots with lv 7 crannies.
Try for lv 6 or higher fields before Beginners Protection (BP) ends so you have enough resources to make some settlers when you have enough Culture Points (CP).
Reasoning behind these structures:
-Getting this list of buildings to these levels as soon as possible (without neglecting to also build fields) will make sure that you have enough Culture Points (CP) to settle soon after beginners protection. Getting your second village as quickly as possible is vital for a strong position early on.
-The lv 7 crannies have an excellent cost/CP ratio and will also protect your resources from your neighbors when beginners protection wears off.
-The lv 4 wall will make sure anyone raiding you with small amounts of troops will lose at least one every time. If their raids come up empty (because of all your crannies) and they are losing troops each time they will eventually move on to better targets.
-DO NOT try to defend raids after beginners protection. Make sure your hero is set to dodge and troops are out of the village or Gold Club auto dodge is on. Let your crannies do their job and keep your troops for later.
-Build some troops (20-50 unless you are Tuet, then more is ok) for raiding oasis other players will clear if you want but don't sacrifice building fields or buildings to do so. Chances are pretty good your hero will bring some troops back with him from some of your adventures before your Beginners Protection wears off.
NOTE: all of this can be done with no gold or limited gold and still work just fine. However, gold makes things much faster and easier. Gold= more CP (less time to build due to res bonuses and/or insta build = more overall CP over time), NPC so you can turn one kind of resource into another for less time waiting for the proper amount of each, and more resources (25% bonuses). Also, that "build 25% faster" button? You watch an ad and shave 25% off of the build time of the building or field you are about to construct. VERY helpful for getting things built faster if you are willing to be bombarded with advertising.
Forget about the old rules and myths about teutons being the worst tribe for new players.
You are new to the game? Know nothing about Sun Tzu "The art of war"? -Then pick teutons.
Troops are so cheap and trained so fast, that even when you splat, you will have nothing to worry about. The only tribe were you can experiment as much as you want without any big repercussions. Especially with the new oasis respawn rules on new servers, teuton is the best tribe to start with in regular servers.
I played Travian for 2 years and I'll share some of experiences and game insights. As of now, I'm playing as Egyptian in a x10 server (much faster , i dont have time for a slow game, and i'm curious with the new 2 factions).
For Teutons (this is my first race btw). In the span of beginner's protection, prioritize maximizing your resources, building time especially crannies (this will protect your from incoming raids), and rush your barracks if possible (clubswingers are really cheap, just spam it as much as you can). When you build enough army, try raiding inactive players (these players usually don't excel in population so you will notice them inactive) and this is underrated, ALWAYS CHECK YOUR SURROUNDING REPORTS.
For Gauls and Egyptians (really good for beginners and late comers). Same concept, but prioritize building the walls and lots of crannies. For Gauls, just play the passive type, build traps and 4 crannies as possible (that would cater 12k resources). Build phalanx when the economy is getting good. For Egyptians, Ash Wardens are the most pretty solid defense.
For Romans, abuse your building time. Prioritize your wall and crannies and resource upgrades, and don't rush barracks (very hard since the soldiers are expensive, by the time your protection ended, you would be much vulnerable).
I don't have Huns guide btw, but I think this race is not good for beginners. No real defense and you can only rely on offense and most of the time cavalries. If you have good friends on the game, you might give this is a shot since Huns need to be babysitted in the early stages.
GENERAL guide for me is to just build 4 - 6 CRANNIES, WALLS, and RESOURCE UPGRADES guys... Never never rush building soldiers unless otherwise, you have time to move them when encountering RAIDS. It is better to build tons of soldiers rather than piece by piece. Know your priorities FIRST. And join an ALLIANCE if you can. Thats it! Have fun reader...
Buy as much gold as possible.
Most valueable tip i can give, is thinking about how much time are you spending on Travian.
If you are working person with family and social life, you are not gonna be spending a lot of time in game. So, best option for you is playing safe and slow game, taking Gauls/Romans/Egyptians is your priority... Building crannies, defensive type units or wall is your "daily to do list". Best way how to enjoy a lot of fun with this style, is to find somebody very offensive based and combine your defensive and your new friend offensive style to conquer everything around!
If your are student or just somebody with a lot of free time to spend, this is probably your way - Taking Teutons/Huns/Romans (yes, Romans can be used for both styles, they are just expensive). You have to focus on building barracks and crop fields, frorm very beggining you need to start spamming your units to start farming oases and after begginers protection, release your army on innactive players all around, make your farmilists and watch them! This is probably most time-spending activity in early phases of game. Btw, swarming and farming with Gauls is also fun, Thunders are extremly fast and you can spam your farmlists much more often!

As a Gaul: Take advantage of the extra 0.5 cranny's capacity and the trappers to get in early if you are getting raids, as are super cheap options and nobody will harras you during early game

Don't underestimate the importance of the v2 rush in setting yourself up with a good capital. Don't go overboard on troops or fields just chasing the raider leaderboard or a simming medal. Efficiency of resources and cp is key.

1- Activate gold club as early as possible, get troops and start raiding as early as possible even if you play as def. Activate troop evasion not to loose your troops untill they reach descent numbers, and start working on the farm list. You have to balance simming and troop training for raiding. Don't just upgrade buildings fields only.
2- If you are raided and have a lot of resources, let us say you were accumulating to build something expensive or settlers, use NPC to train more troops or a settler if possible ( preferably just before the attack lands). even if you don't buy gold, the game gives you some for free, use it wisely. Usually troops and buildings consume different amounts of each resource so even if you upgrade and train you will still have some extra above cranny level, this NPC ensures raider doesn't get anything and you train more troops. Win win.
3- If you are Roman, while Plus is active, you can instantly finish:
Upgrading three things (2 resources tiles and 1 building or vice versa),
2 researches in Smithy
Demolishing a building
And all costs only 2 gold.
Non Roman almost the same, but 2 buildings/resource fields instead of 3.
If you don't have a lot of gold this is very helpful, especially at high levels fields and long smithy researches.
4- marketplace is very important especially if you have more than 1 village. First 5 levels very cheap and give a lot of Culture points, and the market allows you to send resources between villages if you see a raid coming your way. It is very important to prevent the raider from taking resources. Someone said if resources are in market offer during a raid, they remain hidden. This is not true. They don't get stolen if the traders are on the way, but as long as they are in the village, you lose them.
5- If a player raided several times and always taking nothing, they might stop. If they don't stop, you could send a polite message telling them that you are active and better to raid someone else instead of wasting time on you, most probably they remove your village from farm list. If they don't stop, you start making them lose resources by keeping few def troops and not letting them take any resources at the same time. This will make them stop. Most of your troops should be raiding at the start of the game. You shouldn't allow raider to kill your weak off troops for easy hero experience. Keep them busy.
6- Culture points are very important all game long.
At start, get the cheap buildings that give the most CP to level 5, like market, academy, embassy (cheap 27 CP per day)
Later you push them to 10, and get the town hall to start parties. In every support village do that even put treasury level 1 if you can't afford upgrading it more, In every village. Later on you upgrade these buildings to 15 and then to 20 as you go on. Treasury very expensive beyond level 10 but level 1 gives 7 CP per day (level 5 gives 15 CP, and level 10 gives 37 CP).
Finally don't neglect the trade office, very important later on in the game and gives a lot of CP too.
I should end with try non-stop parties even from level 1 town hall.
7- Not applicable in Codex Victoria, but in other servers, if u get raided very beginning of game, and no other way to use or save resources, send them through market to closest inactive village, time it so that your troops arrive just after the resources and bring them back. This way you evade the raid and don't lose the resources. Of course if there are friendly players near by that you already communicated with, or you already joined an alliance you could have more options. Communication with your neighbors is usually not a bad idea.
8- get duals, players from different time zones on the same account. This ensures the maximum activity and pays off well.

This is an interesting psychological tip that is more effective than you may think.
Rushing Hero's Mansion and annexing an Oasis early in the game shows everyone around you that you mean business.
This works quite well when facing novice or intermediate players, they will see the oasis and think "Okay, I'll just leave this guy and attack the other one".
Pro players may take advantage of it by attacking the oasis, but I rarely experienced that in early stages of the server.

Dont rush building army at the beginning of the server. you need huge amount of troops to raid oases, only focus on storages and crannies and resource fields and try to rush takeing atleast 1 15 crops 150% since no one will attack with catapults at the start.
Unless you are experienced and playing with Teuton. Be sure to have at least one or two level 10 crannies when you finish beginners protection as this is your defence against raiders.
Build as many crannies as you need to avoid raiders plundering your resources while you are offline. This strategy will keep you safe until the catapults arrive at least!
