delbarco; ts4 sez: Send all your nearby neighbors a friendly note while you are still in beginner protection. Ask them about their experience and strategic plans - chat them up a little. They might lie about it, and attack you right after protection finishes, they might ignore your messages, and then you won't be any worse off than you would have been. But they might think 'that delbarco guy is an OK person; I'll leave him alone for now, or maybe we'll even become allies'. Then if they show weakness or you don't like the name of their village or whatever, you can still attack them, but there is a chance they might not attack you first! And it is even possible that you WILL become allies. That would be kinda' sweet. Allies nearby are a lot more helpful than allies far away.

When it comes to defense, find a Gaul for speed, their phalanxes are fast to build and they march quicker than other troops. But for long defenses seek out Roman Praetorians and Teuton Spears! (in equal number for maximum efficiency against both cavalry and infantry).

During protection period try building at least 1 cranny lvl 10 to keep your resources safe and upgrade until get stables lvl 1 to build Pathfinder(scout or equites legati) and use it scout resources nearby. Also keep track(you can use an excel sheet or even a notebook) of the population in the villages around you, this could be use to find without scouting which village is abandoned and can become a good farm for you.
Best tip you can get, is not to follow this tips, most of them are pretty bad, cranny to lvl 10 before beginners end???????.......barracks early upgrade without raiding.....12k crany......the dude saying he can settle in 3 days
......You are playing like a cow not like a pro

Don't listen to the advice of anyone who isn't experienced enough to know the REAL reasons for building crannies during beginners protection. The real reasons being they produce the cheapest culture points and will therefore mean you settle your second village much faster and get a better choice of location.

Teutons will get more advantage if they go for Axeman and Teutonic Knight because they will provide both defense and attack power at the same time.
Problem:
Yes they cost more and take time too
Solution:
Take all resources to 7+ and Warehouse to 10+ this will help you solve the resource problem. Don't forget to get Grain Mill to 5 at least.
Time take can be reduced by upgrading Barracks to Level 10 or higher and you can always make them stronger with Smithy.
Always attack with your Hero if you are a Teuton it will help you get extra resource from Cranney as you will need them for your Army

Concerning World Wonders.
The key to developing a successful world wonder comes down to one thing, logisitics. Whomever in your team is going to build the world wonder needs to be decided upon within the first 2 weeks of the start of the server. If not before the server starts itself. Take the WW itself early, we prefer to take it within a few weeks after the artifacts themselves are released.
The key is to start deployment of support cities around the WW early. I like to have basically one out ever five of my allies cities to be for WW support. Then in turn assign each player a time marker. So player A uses their supply city to send on the hour every hour at 00, player B 01 all the way to 59. then repeat the process. This way you have a constant uninterrupted supply heading constantly into the WW itself. In the WW itself, if you build a trade office, you can in turn ship out up to 1.25 million clay wood and iron an hour from the WW to your NPC city and turn them into wheat then sent back to the WW. therefore you can easily maintain a very powerful garrison in the WW as well as a fairly secure location for some of your allies endgame hammers.
The WW holders account should be developed all within 20 tiles of the WW itself. The WW account should be almost entirely defensive in nature and a tueton account do to their superior walls. Slowly but surely develop all the account holders cities to mass produce spearmen, and as soon as practical begin mass spear production. This way you have many anvils to play with. This way in time you will have several hundred thousand spearmen that can be moved to defend your capital, your artifact, construction plans or WW or split up to defend all of them if necessary very quickly. then can be sent back to the WW itself for storage. Doing this my team has the ability to move half a million troops where needed in 2 hours or less. Far faster than any enemy hammer or ghost can arrive to try and ruin your teams endgame chances. So provided you have decent allied standing defenses at key locations your WW accounts anvils can go where needed and greatly bolster the garrisons, basically a force multipier.

The best rule to win the Game is very simple...
Problem:
We keep attacking each other and declare wars between Alliances this weaken you as well as the other player.
Solution:
All join hands help each other and attack Nature only. This will free more Oasis and player will grow faster.

Travian is a game of decision making every decision in early game will decide your start mid and end game so make your decisions wisely that suits best to your activity
I think that the most important thing during the first few weeks is where you settle second village.
It doen't matter if you are gold spender or not, you usually have two options - to settle near your starting village or to go somewhere far - usually near WW village or some nice crop. If you want to stay near your home village, be sure to have a sitter or be more active player - there is higher chance that someone will attack you and because all villages are near each other in the middle of the map, the time to come knocking on your door is short. If you want more peacefull game or cannot spent too much time in Travian, settle far from the starting position (I mean literally 20+ hours of your settlers traveling time). The important thing for this strategy is to settle somewhere, where your crop village is the only nice crop village in the 15-20 tiles radius. This way you can be sure no one else will settle on similar crop 10 tiles away and be a risk for the rest of the game...

Just keep offence or defence rating slightly higher than the population. I reckon that is the main formula.
Dont chief a village under 300 pop

Well, For the Beginners( Choose Gauls). Gauls dont need to much time to play. Olay defensive. Learn some. Beginners only rush and fear if they will be attacked by players growing faster. That doesn't happen. Just build cranny. No Troops needed. Build trapper to 100. No players affords to lose 100 troops getting trapped at early start. Most of the raiders are teuton clubs.

do not be in a haste to use the book of wisdom if you have one , wait till you get enough points
By then you would have better knowledge on how the divide them based on your needs
best troops for raiding in each tribe
Teuton hammer: Clubswinger
Teuton anvil: Paladin
Gaul hammer: Theutates Thunder
Gaul anvil: Druidrider
Roman hammer: Equites Imperatoris
Roman anvil: --
Raiding is a big part of the game so everyone should do it wisely
Although there is no proper unit for roman anvils to raid
so better to pop up villages because of roman superior advantage in construction
Well I believe wish this will be useful
1. "Gold Club"
- try to activate it before your beginner protection ends. This will help you build and keep your troops safe.
- it may be activated even by selling some of the items found in adventure and converting silver to gold, its worth it.
2. "Cranny"
- try to have at least one cranny before your beginner protection ends. ( ideally 2 or more for Gauls and 3 or more for others will be a good to have)
3. "Warehouse"
- try to use your resource before your warehouse capacity reaches your cranny hiding capacity, if you are attacked by Teutons, try to use it before it hits 80% of your cranny
4. "Forum"
- well this is also a way to get more information and gold
That's all i have!

Allies are your greatest asset. Be friend with your neighbors, work together with players and hey, if you can't beat them, join them!
For me, the best tip has been to have one village close by that specialises in the opposite of the rest of your villages. For example, I'm a defensive player, but having my second village as a mini-hammer village helps to keep pesky neighbours away!
