Next workshop preparation

  • I have been given a list of existing new topics that need prioritizing into high/medium/low categories for a short upcoming discussion. Please provide your feedback on any or all of them and state how important the change is to you. The next workshop is only intended to prioritize discussion, but providing comments now will help for later. If you make no reference to a topic, I will assume you consider it a low priority.


    Cheaper Single Unit Fakes


    Reduce Quantity of Animals in Oasis at Server Start (People complain that oasis have more animals at the beginning of the server. How about reducing the animals in oasis at the beginning of the server)


    Paid Cosmetic Changes for Hero and Village


    Buying Back Trapped Troops (Allow to buy out trapped troops without permission from Gual account. Cost is equal to the cost of troops and given to Gual hero bag)


    Limit Alliance Membership to Single Quadrant (Make it impossible for a player who starts in one quadrant to join alliance in another quadrant. Most multis are from other alliances, so it would avoid multis and those in the same quadrant a lot)


    Increase WWS for Tournament Servers


    Increase Confederacy Capacity on Tournament Servers


    Remove Vacation Mode (number of fixes needed to remove abuse overcomplicates the feature. Removal is the best option based on community feedback)


    Shorten 1x Normal Speed Servers (Reduce server length by shortening server to a maximum of 210 days. Artis, Item Tiers, and WW Plans will spawn incrementally sooner. Resource production increased. Training and construction time decreased. Troop speed remains the same.)


    Increase Length of Mid-Game (Currently early game and mid game are equally balanced at 100 days each. Decrease the length of early game and add it to the mid game)


    Calculate Top 10 "Climbers of the Week" by Population Growth Instead of Population Rank


    Display Name of Artifact in Reports When Captured


    Change Hero Home Village Instantly (Allow changing of hero home in whatever village he is in without needing to use the rally point check box while sending as reinforcement)

  • Cheaper single unit fakes- I dont like the change, if anything I think they should be more expensive. Even with the current system, sending 15+ sets of fakes per real is clearly worth it. I feel pretty strongly about this one.


    Animals early game - I dont really care what the system is during BP, but I think the first respawn after BP should be weaker. Right now it feels like every crop oasis gets like 10 crocs and tigers and you pretty much have to cage clear the first cap oasis.


    Cosmetic changes - Great idea, option to pag that doesnt make it more pay to win.


    Buying back trapped troops - I dont like it because it makes the trapper even weaker. I think the gaul should get the option to kill off the troops, but I dont care either way, doesnt change that much.


    Tourney stuff - I havent played TT so I dont care much here nor have educated opinions. That said, I think keeping the number of WWs low is good, its a strategically important village and should be kept that way. Even now its harder to get the plans to build than the ww (there are always a few wws without much deff or not enough plans) so I dont think it would even change that much.


    confed should be kept at 240 imo, the ww deff numbers were at like 60mil anyway IIRC.


    Ally membership - I feel strongly thats a bad idea. Punishes non premades, punishes premades that want to play center in several quads..


    Remove vacation mode - yes.


    Server time changes - I like shortening early game, I think midgame should be kept at around 100 days. Something like day 70 arts day 170 BPs for example. I think it would force a bit less simming pre arts.


    Moving hero - great change


    top 10 climbers - I like it but dont really care.


    show artifact name stolen - I like it but dont really care.

    Probably smart for Travian's bankaccounts, uninteresting otherwise. Please put it in a place where it isn't extremely annoying.

    This sounds extremely random right now. What's the rationale here? How does this relate to Gaul as a tribe? Their identity was once supposed to be defensive, beginner oriented, and fast but weak on the (non-catapult/ram) offense. The trapper was added to them to provide easier defense early game, to make it extremely annoying and unprofitable to try and farm a gaul account. The Gauls had some control over releasing/not releasing captured troops. Now that control is being changed. Why? Random changes without any thought to balance and identity should always be veto'ed...

    Yes. It should never have been imlemented in the first place considering that virtually every veteran in the game was against it at the time.

    NO. Same mistake as in Kingdoms. Shortening the game screws up everything. DON'T. Make the game more interesting instead, and not just for beginning players but for every type of player.

    NO. Again, same mistakes as in Kingdoms. There's a reason for a build-up in ANYTHING. Don't just remove the build-up because you're used to the build-up and now find it slow and boring...It serves a purpose!

    Screws up the balance of the hero. Dumbs down the game by creating an exception for 1 troop type. Why?

    Some of these suggestions were just not worth the effort of long answer, so I've just used "No".
    Some were okay, but you honestly need to start working on actual issues. This is a really bad first set of ideas from an Ambassador of the game.

    What about alliances going for grey?
    Its not rare to have players in all 4 quads if you're going grey, guess they should split alliance into 4?

  • Only change on that list that would really improve the game is removal of vac mode in my opinion.


    I mentioned reworking the deff point system on another thread, which you’ve responded to, so I assume that you have recorded that somewhere.


    Also, regarding the new farm list system, I think some more improvements need to be made. Like showing how many raids are made and being able to more easily sort and transfer farms between lists if that’s possible.

    During the last workshop, the ambassadors did the same thing for two hours for many other suggestions.

    Travian Games received many ideas recently and we wanted to know what's a priority and what isn't from the Community point of view.

    Change Hero Home Village Instantly (Allow changing of hero home in whatever village he is in without needing to use the rally point check box while sending as reinforcement) -- Good idea, but as mentioned above, there would need to be something to prevent players from chiefing a village with the hero and immediately transferring the hero to that village. Maybe a minimum loyalty, or minimum time after conquering?

    Cheap fakes -

    No. They're cheap enough already, why should it be easier to send fake attacks?


    Reduce animals in Oases -
    Make it even easier to abuse techs at start up? No.


    Buying back trapped troops -

    You already have the option to reclaim them by attacking the village, why should you get an additional option to force a release through giving some token resources?


    Limit alliance membership -

    Absurd. What about grey zone, players on border etc. What if a player falls out with their alliance in quad and wants to join another but there aren't good alternatives in quad? Brainless idea.


    Remove vacation -

    The only sensible idea on the list.


    Shorten 1x -

    If you want a shorter server, try speed servers, they already exist without changing the normal game mode into a slightly slower version of a speed server.

    can twist it with attacker cant kill troops.. he can only pay back ransom to get them back or keep feeding them ( so later they can be used to follow back )

Since there was no option given to me that a poorly received idea could be placed into a category for no discussion, they will be placed in the low priority category. If anyone wants to make a last minute plea to move something up or down, go for it.

    Here is my personal opinion on the more popular topics (I don't care for any of the low priority ones). Obviously my bias will play a role in their selection, but I believe I have given respondents a fair prioritization.

    Remove Vacation Mode - I hate vacation mode. Any serious player doesn't need it and with sitters/duals there doesn't seem to be a reason for it's existence. As a solo player myself, I can understand why someone may want to "go on vacation" instead of getting a sitter, but its abuse far outweighs its intended purpose.

    Calculate Top 10 "Climbers of the Week" by Population Growth Instead of Population Rank - This makes sense, but was a low priority to me. I feel others are more interested in seeing this change, but I also think Vinit144 has a good view on it that new players can set this as an obtainable goal.

    Display Name of Artifact in Reports When Captured - This makes sense, but again just a low personal priority to me. I care more about the substance of the game and not some words on a screen.

    Change Hero Home Village Instantly - I would be interested in hearing this discussion out, even though I'm not sure any changes are needed. I read mixed feelings on it, so I hope to hear more on both sides.

    Reduce Quantity of Animals in Oasis at Server Start - I think the balance is fine, but there appears to be a bigger discussion here with some ideas being thrown around. I think oasis and animals feel stale after 2 weeks and maybe there's an idea out there to liven them up.

    Paid Cosmetic Changes for Hero and Village - Also a low priority to me, but if personalization can attract players (like other games) and give TG another source of income, then it should be explored. I doubt gold prices would fall, but I'd keep my fingers crossed. I don't want TG spending an absurd amount of time on it though because its a potential money maker. I see it as some game designers side project for fun.

  • For the changes i agree with most of the comments, but the trapper one was the most interresting idea, the idea seems rational if we want to keep the building but it won t change much cause as a gaul you ll be paying a lot and wasted a building slot for like 400 cages that you can t move so if we can use that change and make trappers very very cheap(75% cheaper )maybe it can be useful it may give gaul a good start but i feel it s worth it as other special building give so much advantages to other tribes but if you ask me i ld say what the game realy need is a good notification system especialy for attacks(incomings) we can use it as extention for our brother or by doing an app that oppen the normal game (maybe powered by a brother) and the only plus it has is a good notification setting

    A notification system would literally kill half the strats that people use. You won't be able to do sneak attacks at all. This is not a social media app, please no notifications.

  • Would it be possible for it to be raised in the ambassador program that attack points for killing nature in oasis and natars are removed from the rankings?


    Hero XP should still be earned for attacking them as faming hero xp is valid for end game hammers etc.


    The reasoning is that too often you see people attacking oasis for no reason other that to farm attacker medals, this removes the prestige of the medals themselves.


    As for natars, a player can do nothing all server apart from clear one artefact and a world wonder and find themselves in the top ten attackers. As natars have infamously pathetic cavalry defence and you can also use the horn to boost your effectiveness against them it again removes the prestige from the rankings.


    Killing alliance/confed members troops should also not count.


    I believe the attackers medals and rankings should all relate to the actual enemy player troops that have been killed.
