    • Spam-bots and Mods

So what is the deal with these spam-bots? Seems to be happening more than once a day now. And what is the deal with some mods getting power crazy and closing the only interesting threads on this forum?... With all the bugs in-game and the forum slipping down, begs the question, does anyone working at TG, or affiliated with, actually know what they doing?

    • I really hope that they fix the spam soon...One would think that the specialists could fix it with their eyes closed...

Which threads got closed? You could always write to the CM of the domain to get him/her to check if any of the mods are abusing their power.

Without mentioning specific threads incase of risking, ironically, getting this thread closed, recently it seems some mods/cm's are being too sensitive to some posts that appear to be "close to the line". Even a thread opened recently to discuss what is considered spam was closed because of one persons inability to exhibit a discussion.

Definition of spam: unsolicited usually commercial messages sent to a large number of recipients or posted in a large number of places.

The spam-bots are spamming because they post pointless threads with no content in large numbers. Other users have been punished because a mod/cm has taken offense and ignored the actual content of the post. Bit sad really, Travian is struggling as it is without us being constantly censored on the forum.

    • Spam Issues:

Im sorry that the spam has become so noticeable for you, the moderation team here on UK & US are working tirelessly to remove spam as fast as possible.

It should go without saying (but im going to say it anyway): Do not follow any of the links posted by spambots as they may be unwholesome, not family friendly or contain a virus.

There has always been spam however on the old VB forum we had both detection and mitigation through plugins and user moderation which kept 99% of spam posts hidden from the public forum where the moderation team then removed them.

Since the forum merge the process and software deals with spam differently and as a result you are seeing more spam then we would like.

You most likely wont have noticed, unless you recently registered your account, that we do have both captcha's and travian specific questions at registration however it seems that the day after the questions get changed the bots return. This could mean that the accounts are being created by a real user before being handed to a bot to manage (almost impossible to mitigate against) or the automated spambots have got cleverer (meaning we need harder questions). There does however have to be a balance to ensure that legitimate users are not prevent from registering by questions being too difficult.

On behalf of the UKUS team I apologise for the inconvenience and assure you that we are doing everything we can to remove spam as quickly as possible and working closely with the relevant teams to find a sustainable solution.

Closing of threads / Deleting posts

There has been recent activity that fell short of the Community Guidelines, Terms & Conditions, Game Rules or Privacy Policy, all of which are applicable across Travian: Legends sites. Where a post fell short of the expected standard it is either edited or removed.
Discretion is used as to wheather an individual receives an informal warning or formal warning and the conduct & attidtude of the individual as well as the content posted is also considered.

Where something is genuinely a mistake a simple edit or removal might suffice, Where something is deemed to be deliberate, to provoke others or to encourage others to also break the rules then it is sometimes required to close or remove entire threads and issue formal warning.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that ban/cheating discussion is not permitted, and that all parts of T&C including Section 8 User's duties are applicable here on the forum as well as in-game.
These include but are not limited to:
spam, abuse, harassment, Dissemination of statements with advertising, religious or political contents , disclosure or dissemination of personal or confidential information ofother users (including real names), Dissemination of untruthful allegations about the race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, origin, social status of other users or the employees.

Where an individual does not adhear to the standards expected the moderation team will investigate and take steps to resolve the issue as above.

If you feel that the action taken was incorrect you should contact the Community Manager to discuss the issue, Threads/Posts are not an acceptable way to raise and issue or concern with moderation)
The Community Manager will then investigate. You will at no time be told of actions taken against other users so please don't ask.

I know that you are sorry on behalf of the UKUS team, but I think that MadZ was referring to all domains in general...We really need a place where we can reach all domains, without having to post multiple threads across multiple domains...Cause it feels like there isn't much communication between the individual domains.

How come TG decided to get rid of the plugins that kept 99% of the spam hidden from the public? *Hint, the same plugins the old VB forum had, are available on BB aswell...How come the plugins aren't reinstated?
      For Crunchie!
    • The spam issue has already been sent as feedback and the Senior Community Manager also monitors threads so rest assured your voices are being heard, there is no need to post on multiple domains.
The forum is centrally administered now so all domains are in the same situation, unfortunately UK is the default domain all new users find so we get a greater proportion of the threads.

The plugins used on VB s are not available on WBB currently that is why they are not being used here.

    • I think with regards to the thread closures and mop ups, the point MadZ is trying to make is....

Give the people what they want.

and what the people want is BLOOD!!! It worked for Caesar, even got him a salad named after himself

there is a reason Jeremey Kyle is watched by so many afterall

also, can we get some more smilies?

the travian ones are cool for when you need them

      also, also, again.. erm.

Is it true that tavain kingdoms has it's own worldwide forum held with a different forum host?

Is that the route of all the issues, all funding being pushed into Kingdoms so Legends is getting ignored?

    • It's like you can read my mind Crunch... also, wrong Caesar for the salad ;)

Everyone agrees that spamming should be removed, but when valid contributions to threads get removed because one individual considers it spam (even though other individuals disagree) then that's abuse of power and quite frankly, makes life pretty boring for us users.

On the spam-bots, I won't pretend to have any idea how much money TG makes but I think it's safe to assume that it's a lot. Surely some of that money can be used for some very basic security features. I'm aware that it is not the mods\cm decision with anything that major, but stop sticking up for TG when they are currently failing to get basics right nowadays.
