• # Day 5 The Inner Sanctum

Surprisingly, the Inner Sanctum was really small and – unlike other rooms – not decorated at all. An empty room with a central stone altar on which stood three bottles – one yellow, one red, and one blue – including some inscription. The statue of Nefertum – the man with the lotus – was guarding them.
"These are bottles of pure death." Nefertari explained cautiously, and Mark, who was about to take the red bottle in order to read what was written on it, immediately snapped his hand away. "Try not to drop them. Two of the bottles contain deadly diseases so virulent that everyone who walks nearby would die in no time at all. There is still no cure for those diseases, but as long as they are locked in a bottle, they cannot infect people. The other bottle contains the cure to an existing disease. If we pour this cure into the Nile, we can neutralise it, and the river's water will spread the cure around the world.
Bottles like these were only made by two of the high priests of Nefertum, Nil and Menes. We know that Nil always only put true statements on the bottles that he had made, and Menes inscribed false statements. We need to find the correct bottle with the cure." Here is what was written on each bottle.

Yellow bottle Blue bottle Red bottle The cure is here. The cure is here. At least two of these bottles were made by Menes.

Which bottle contains the cure?

Task: For this task, you need to find out where the cure is and PROVE it by posting your logical reasoning.

• The cure is in the red bottle because there are two bottles of poison and one bottle of cure.

Yellow - The cure is here.(Made by Menes which makes it False)

Blue - The cure is here.(Made by Menes which makes it False)

Red - At least two of these bottles were made by Menes. (True)
If this is made by Nil, then the other two is made by Menes which write false statement on the bottle. This means that neither yellow or blue bottle are the cure.

• Assume the red bottle is made by Nil. That means the other two bottles were made by Menes, and therefore they are both false statements and not the cure. Therefore the red bottle would be the cure.

Assume the red bottle is made by Menes. That means Menes either inscribed one or all three of the bottles. He couldn't have inscribed all three, so he only would have inscribed the red in this case. There can't be two cure bottles, therefore this scenario is invalid.

Therefore, the red bottle is the cure.

The red bottle has the cure.

We can rule out that all 3 bottles were made by the same person.
If all 3 were made by Nil, both the Y and B bottle would contain cures.
If all 3 were made by Menes, then the R bottle would have a true statement.

So therefor 2 bottles were made by 1 person and the other bottle made by the other:
If Nil made the Y and B Bottle, there would be 2 cures which is the wrong answer.
If Nil made either the Y and R OR the B and R bottles the R bottle statement would be false which is the wrong answer.

If Menes made either the Y and R OR the B and R bottles, the red bottle statement would be true which is the wrong answer.

So that only leaves Menes made the Y and B bottles (neither of which has the cure so therefor falsely labeled) and Nil made the R bottle which is a true statement and therefor is the only possible bottle remaining that could contain the cure.
• The third bottle contains the cure.
Since there are two bottles claiming they ve got the cure, but at least just one of them can contain it, we can infere that one of those bottles is true and the other false, to begin with.
About the third statement: if it s false, Menes had made just one bottle (it must be one of the "this is the cure")or the three of them. since we know Nil also participated, he did not make 3. And he couldn t have made just one, cause in that case there will be two false statements (one of "this is the cure" and "menes made two")
But if it s true, means that menes made the two "this is the cure" bottles. The third statement was made by Nil and that s the right bottle.

• red bottle is cure.
because
Yellow bottle Blue bottle Red bottle The cure is here. The cure is here. At least two of these bottles were made by Menes

statement is,

1. false false true
2. false false false

only in this 2 condition can be applied on this so by this 2 condition red bottle is the cure.

red bottle has the cure

Nil cannot do yellow and blue because only one bottle has the cure.
If Nil did either the yellow or blue bottle and the red bottle, Menes would have to do 2 bottles per the label on red, and since only one bottle would be left we know that Nil did not do 2 bottles.
We know that Nil cannot do just the blue or just the yellow because then Menes would do the red and another. Menes doing the Red means that Menes only did one or less.
Nil now gets the red bottle stating that Menes gets the other two which are now both lies, ultimately not containing the cure.

Since we know that neither the blue nor the yellow contain the cure, the red bottles has to have it.
• red bottle contains the cure. That is answer because its only note that could be true when another two notes are false. So because last notenis true it is nils and other two are menesis notes. And because menes always speaks false and says that both of his bottles contains cure it must be in that third bottle, what is red one.

The red bottle contains the cure.
The only possible combination is Yellow - false, Blue - false, Red - true, which means the cure is in the red bottle.
Several combinations do not work because of the last statement which, if true, means two or three bottles have to be false, and if it was false than it can only be false. These combinations are in the order of Yellow Blue Red, FFF, which is a contradiction of the last statement, FTT, which makes it so that two bottles are cures, TFF and FTF which are contradictions of the last statement.
Therefore, the red bottle contains the cure.
• KEY: Y=Yellow Bottle, B=Blue Bottle, R=Red Bottle, N=Nil, M=Menes

There are 8 possible combinations of creations. They are as follows. [Bottle=Creator]

Y=N; B=N; R=N - This cannot be; it would mean Nil lied on either the yellow or blue bottle, and the red bottle.

Y=N; B=N; R=M - This cannot be; it would mean Nil lied on either the yellow or blue bottle.

Y=N; B=M; R=N - This cannot be; it would mean Nil lied on the red bottle.

Y=M; B=N; R=N - This cannot be; it would mean Nil lied on the red bottle.

Y=N; B=M; R=M - This cannot be; it would mean Menes told the truth on the red bottle.

Y=M; B=N; R=M - This cannot be; it would mean Menes told the truth on the red bottle.

Y=M; B=M; R=N - This can be; it would mean Menes would lied for both Yellow and Blue, but the cure would be in the red bottle and Nil would tell the truth about at least two bottles being from Menes.

Y=M; R=M; R=M - This cannot be; it would mean Menes told the truth on the red bottle.

The cure is in the red bottle.

• In order for the third statement to be true and written by Nil, then the other two are false so Red is the cure. If the third statement is false and written by menes, then menes could only make one of these bottles and Nil couldn’t have written yellow and blue.

Red is the cure.

• Red bottle is the cure.

If the red bottle is the cure, then the statements on the other 2 bottles are false which leaves the message on the red bottle to be true.
• Yellow bottle Blue bottle Red bottle The cure is here. The cure is here. At least two of these bottles were made by Menes

Here is what was written on each bottle.

If the Red Bottle was made by Menes, that statement is false,
then, the Y and B bottles where made by Nil, and the statement must to be true, but the cure cannot stays on both bottles.
So, this is not possible.

If the Red Bottle was made by Nil, the statement is true
then, the Y and B bottle are really made by Menes and those statements are false, and none contains the cure

So, the cure is on Red bottle.

• Since there is no possible way to determine it from the information you gave, here's the solution:

Logically you should give three different bottles and quarantine them to let them open them, two will die but you'll find the cure.
